According to the details, the customs officials foiled the money laundering attempt at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
The Customs staff stationed at the International Departure Lounge of the Department of Customs, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, searched the luggage of a passenger on Turkish Airlines flight number TK 709, and recovered 23 thousand 550 US dollars from his possession, which is 66 Lakhs are equivalent to Pakistani Rupees.
Officials said that the passenger had hidden the recovered dollars in his shoulder bag, action was taken against the passenger under the Customs Act, further investigation is underway.
Government of Pakistan/State Bank of Pakistan has set a limit of $5000 per passenger for travelers going abroad.
